I Love the Way You…

“Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.”   Psalm 90:14

Excerpt written by Annie Clark, MMF Team

Since my little sweeties came into the world almost 5 years ago, I have written just about every little sweet, funny- now-but–not-at–the-time memory down on paper. I started to compile a list of these memories by beginning with the statement: I love the way you... I suggest you try it.  Every time I read these memories, I laugh until I just about pee my pants, smile until my jaw aches and cry until I am a mess....all in the same sitting. I am so thankful for these memories.  I am so thankful these boys are mine, all mine.  I am so thankful God chose me to be their mommy when for a long time I didn't think I was ever going to hold a child of my own in my arms, let alone two at the same time. I am so grateful.  So grateful even at those moments when I find that one of my monkeys has decided that playing in my makeup is the thing to do....playing....I mean, digging in the blush so hard that it crumbs on the carpet and then grinding it into said carpet with his feet.  I sit down on the carpet beside him pulling him onto my lap, as he looks up at me with blush streaked checks, forehead, and chin and says “Sawry.”  I am so grateful he is mine. Don’t get me wrong, I have had many days that I would not be anywhere close to Mommy of the Year.  Many days when I have called my Momma crying and wondering what I am doing wrong because my boys just aren’t behaving! Then come the moments where tragedy strikes a family close to you.  It is those times when you tiptoe into your own little ones’ room, crawl into bed with them, touch their sweet little cheeks, whisper a prayer into their tiny little ears as your own tears fall onto their pillows.  I am not a perfect momma, but I am THEIR momma. The only momma they will ever have… and I am grateful.pants, smile til my jaw aches and cry....all in the same sitting. I am so thankful for these memories....So thankful these boys are mine, all mine......so thankful God chose me to be their mommy when for a long time I didn't think I was ever going to hold a child of my own in my arms, let alone two at the same time. I am so grateful....So grateful even at those moments when I find that one of my monkey's has decided that playing in my makeup is the thing to do....playing....I mean, digging in the blush so hard that it crumbs on the carpet and then grinding it into said carpet with his feet…. I sit down on the carpet beside him pulling him onto my lap, as he looks up at me with blush streaked checks, forehead and chin and says “sawry”….. Don’t get me wrong, I have had many many days that I would not be anywhere close to a mommy of the year award….Many days when I have called my momma crying and asking what I am doing wrong as a mommy because my boys just aren’t listening to me or behaving….. Then come the moments where tragedy or near-tragedy strikes a family close to you….those times, you tiptoe into your own little ones room, crawl into bed with them, touch their sweet little cheeks, whisper a prayer into their tiny little ears as your own tears fall onto their pillow…… I am not a perfect momma, but I am THEIR momma. The only momma they will ever have….. and I am grateful…. Sweet dreams my sweet babies....

Finish this sentence about your own child(ren): I love the way you...

What makes you the best Momma for your little one(s)?

Why did God choose you to be a mother specifically to your child(ren)?

What does God love about you?  When He thinks of you, how would He finish the sentence: I love the way you…?

Begin keeping a sort of journal to record all the reasons you love your family members.  It will be well worth the moments it takes to jot down those things that make you smile.
